Freebie Sunday!

Today was an unexpected freebie day.  It's funny how those things can happen sometimes.

Spudward modeling our "new to us" chair for the camera.
It all started yesterday.  I called about a free chair on CraigsList that I saw that of course I liked the photo of.  It looked like a nice chair.  Unfortunately, I was second in line.  If the first person didn't show up at 6pm, she was going to call me around 7 and we would go from there.

Needless to say, I was disappointed when at 8pm I hadn't received a phone call.

Today I was writing an article for HubPages when my phone rang.  It was the lady that I had spoken to the day before.  The first individual didn't show up, so if I still wanted the chair, it was available and I just had to go get it.  I was happy!  Yay!  Free chair!

I jumped in the van and headed down there.  We loaded up the chair and I started home.  As I was heading out of the housing addition, something caught my eye sitting at the curb as trash.  Low and behold, someone was throwing away a patio table, umbrella and 4 chairs!  There was NOTHING wrong with the set either!  I could tell they were a few years old but a good cleaning will help out immensely.  I stopped and loaded them up.

Now, the umbrella in the photo is not the umbrella that was sitting out with the set.  The umbrella in the photo is one that I actually bought a couple of days ago at Harbor Freight for $9.99.  The base is a cast iron base that I bought at Goodwill last year for $5.00.  So, I have a very nice $15.00 patio set.  You can't beat that with a stick!

I had to turn around to go back for the patio set so now I was heading in the wrong direction to leave so I had to turn around again.  I drove down a court to keep from using someone's driveway.  Low and behold, here we go again!  Sitting by the curb as trash on the court was a lawn spreader and two shovels.  Jackpot again!  I will be needing a shovel for the chicken coop and who doesn't have room for two shovels?  The spreader will come in handy this spring I'm sure.

So all in all it was a great Sunday.  I got some awesome stuff... for free and a few surprises that were really welcome!

Someone, somewhere loves me today.  I sure hope they love me tomorrow with some fencing, landscaping rock and maybe one of those black plastic pools that you put in the ground for koi.  Now that would be fantastic!

*hugs!*
