Something REALLY Stupid... What NOT to Do!

It's 11:30 and Sweets and I are dead asleep.  I'm startled by the screaming ring of my phone and look to see who it is.  It's my neighbor.

Sweets says "Who is it?"

I reply, "It's Dawn, something must be up."

Answering the phone she starts immediately asking me if we see what's going on in our driveway.  Huh?  So we both get out of bed and walk into the kitchen only to see 6 police cars lining our street and one in the driveway behind some strange car.

There are two young girls standing behind the car talking to the police officers and we could see there were still people inside the car.  Great.  But what the hell are they doing in OUR driveway?

One of the Policemen came to the porch when Sweets went outside to see what was going on and it seems that their car had fit the description for some sort of disturbance that had occurred earlier in the evening.  So when the one Policeman had made a U-turn to pull them over, they at some point pulled into our driveway and had told the Policeman that they knew us and one of the girls was getting ready to get out of the car and come knock on our door.

The driver ended up going to jail.  Evendentally from a warrant out of another state.  As they are leading her to the wagon, she turns and looks at her friend and yells, "Make sure my kids are taken care of."

Nice.  There's a candidate for mother of the year.  She was the driver that pulled into our driveway so I was honestly not real surprised when I heard her yell that out to her friend.  It's 11:30 on a Monday night and Mommy is out riding around with her friends.  What's wrong with that picture?

Things like this just don't happen in our neighborhood.  It's quiet and safe.  You can sit out on your front porch at midnight or in your back yard without having to worry about any crazy crap happening.  I was surprised by this one but then again, stupid people do stupid things and you can't put up walls to keep the stupid out of your area.

The other kids apologized as they were leaving.  Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson.  Don't let someone else lead you into making a stupid mistake.  If you are going to make a stupid decision, make it your own and no one else's.  Some people can be quite persuasive and next thing you know you are in a situation that you don't want to be in with consequences that can possibly ruin your life.

Having to deal with the court system and a night in jail because of someone else is NEVER worth it.  Consequences for one's actions should be thought through before you act.  You may just change your mind and plan of what you are willing to do.  We all have the ability of reason before acting.  And no, society doesn't make us who we are.  WE DO.  We control our own actions and our own lives whether we realize it or not.

It's all about choices.  Choices of what you do.  Choices of who you associate with.  This next sentence will take you far if you remember it and take it to heart:  YOU ARE WHO YOU RUN WITH.  Even if you aren't, others will always perceive you to be.

And that's all I have to say about that... for now.  So I'm hopping off my soap box and getting back to work! :)

Happy Tuesday!

PS: New question on the sidebar!  Curiosity is killing me so please hit a button.  Yeah, I actually said please.

  1. Quite the rant and yep stupid people will always be around no matter how big you make your wall.

If I'm going to be stupid I'll do it myself, screw that others try and make me do, flip the bird to them and walk off..lol.....yep you are judged by the company you keep.

  2. Lanie,

Just think if she got far enough to knock on your door? Sweets throws the door open, the woman sidesteps and Sweets gets hit with the taser! Yikes.

Glad you neighbor called you. We have a makeshift neighborhood watch. We are in the last section of a subdivision and it is creepy quiet back here.

Keep safe and talk to ya later.

    Chris :-)

Say want you want but be nice or be gone. :)
